Members of the Riverton Parke FFA Chapter competed in the Area V Livestock Skillathon Contest on Tuesday, September 10th. The contest was held at the Clay County Fairgrounds. The Livestock Skillathon Career Development Event (CDE) gives students the opportunity to showcase their livestock industry knowledge through identification of various livestock breeds, cuts of meat, feedstuffs, and livestock equipment and answering quiz questions pertaining to the animal science industry and quality assurance. Riverton Parke FFA secured both champion titles in the senior and junior divisions. Emily Adams, Sophie Sanders, Katilynn Koch, and Thomas Koch were members of the champion senior team. They competed in the 4-H division and placed as follows individually: Emily Adams - 1st overall, Sophie Sanders - 2nd overall, Katilynn Koch - 4th overall, and Thomas Koch - 5th overall. Molly McCammon, Jaydon Shaffer, Jase Martin, and Brayden Griffin competed in the senior FFA division and placed 6th overall as a team. Individually, Molly McCammon placed 9th overall and Jaydon Shaffer placed 20th. Scarlett Stites competed as a senior FFA individual. In total, 31 senior teams and 124 senior individuals competed in the contest. Aubrey Adams, Logan Mager, Brogan Griffin, and Abbi Little were members of the champion junior team. Kason Johnson, Presleigh Cassidy, and Kinsleigh Ugoletti also competed in the junior division and placed 10th overall. Individual placings were as follows: Aubrey Adams - 2nd, Logan Mager - 5th, Kason Johnson - 18th, Presleigh Cassidy - 20th, and Brogan Griffin - 21st. Both the champion senior and junior teams will compete in the State Livestock Skillathon Contest held at Purdue University on Saturday, October 5th. The Livestock Skillathon team is coached by FFA advisor, Michaela Woods.
