The Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School staff and student body honored America’s military veterans in a special Veterans Day program on November 11. The ceremony opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the playing of our National Anthem by the RP band, followed by the recognition of veterans. Guest speaker Senior Master Sergeant Chris Anders, US Air Force shared a special message with those in attendance. Special quilt presentations were made to local veterans from the Old Glory Quilters. Members of the Old Glory Quilters create and donate beautiful quilts to military veterans in honor of their service to our country. A total of six beautiful quilts were given to veterans in attendance. The program was closed with a flag folding ceremony performed by Dominik Warne and Kyle Price, and the playing of “Taps” by student Kayla Anders and music teacher Lauren Hileman. The Veterans Day program was organized by RP’s National Honor Society, sponsored by Amanda Warne, and the National Junior Honor Society sponsored by Brittany Porter and Amanda Hopkins.
Geoffrey Canfield, Marines, was presented with a memorial quilt by his son Hayden Canfield. Assisting is NHS member Brooklyn Griffin.
Dan Jackson, Army, received a memorial quilt. Pictured with him are his great nieces, Shelby Leitgabel and Lizzy Leitgabel.

Kayla and Avery Anders helped present an honorary quilt to their father, Chris Anders, Air Force. Also helping is NHS member Ainsley Stutler.
A commemorative quilt was given to Nathaniel Melvin, Navy, by his daughters Taylor and Kara Melvin.
Brody Cobb, Navy, and current RP teacher, was presented with a commemorative quilt. Chris Sanders assisted.
A flag folding ceremony was performed by Dominik Warne and Kyle Price.
