The Applied Careers and Exploration class at Riverton Parke Jr.-Sr. High School traveled to Frink’n Fast Printing and Child Adult Resource Services (CARS) this past week. While at Frink'n Fast Printing in Mecca, they learned about graphic design, the different types of t-shirt decals, and embroidery. They even helped create their own t-shirts. Then they traveled to the CARS facility in Rockville. CARS contracts with Scott Pet Products, Inc., also of Rockville. The students received a tour and some job site training with the Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Career Coach, Nathan Woodard. Some of these students work with him on Tuesdays at Riverton Parke. There were bins of dog bones that were inspected and sorted. These products are shipped nation-wide and can be found at local Tractor Supply and Rural King stores. Nathan educated the students on quality control and safety measures when working with the Scott Pet Food products. Before heading back to school, the students viewed the new apartments at CARS. Thank you to our local businesses for creating opportunities for our students.
