Sarah Brown Named “Good Citizen”

Sarah Brown, a current senior at Riverton Parke High School, has been chosen by the Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School teaching staff and her senior class peers as the DAR “Good Citizen” Award recipient. This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. For this achievement, Sarah will receive a monetary award and will represent the Panthers in the county-wide DAR “Good Citizen” essay competition sponsored by the Estabrook Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The winner of the county competition will continue on to compete for a state scholarship award.

Sarah is the daughter of Shawn and Carrie Brown. She has been a member of the FFA for 6 years and served as an officer for 3 years. She participates in Livestock Skillathon, Meat Judging, and other FFA competitions. She has played basketball for 6 years. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, she is a 10 year 4-H member and has competed in rodeos for 12 years. After high school she plans to attend a 4-year college to become a speech pathologist.
