Riverton Parke freshman Shelby Leitgabel placed 6th in the 100 weight class at the inaugural IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Finals on Friday.
Leigabel faced Jacqueline Mallory of Lowell in her opening match and won with a pin in the 2nd period.
In the quarter finals she lost to Katelyn Rowles of Jay County by getting pinned and dropped into the consolation bracket.
In her next match she faced Aniah Delgado of Perry Meridian. She led 7-1 after 2 periods. Delgado tied the match late in the 3rd period 10-10. Leitgabel was able to get an escape point in the final 10 seconds and win the match 11-10.
In her final match she had a rematch with Sydney Stoller of Tri County who Leitgabel had given her only loss of the season in the Regional. Stoller was able to get the better of her this time and won with a 2nd period pin.
Leitgabel finished the season with a record of 19-6.
