Riverton Parke’s Applied Career Information and Exploration class volunteered part of their morning to work at the Parke-Vermillion Humane Society. The students washed several puppies, tended to the cats, and helped prepare for the PetSmart adoption event. The students were able to give lots of attention and care to the animals. A few students in the class are thinking about working with animals in the future.
The group has recently held fundraisers to support their Career Club endeavors. Before this trip, they collected donations for the Humane Society. Many students were heartbroken that the animals had been surrendered or were strays. Della Oldham commented, “The puppies were very cuddly. I hope they find homes since we cleaned them up." Kaleb Payton said, "I liked the cats. They just need some love."
