National Honor Society Members Create Teacher and Staff Appreciation Program for RP

National Honor Society members Meghan Fellows and Brooklyn Griffin have created  a new teacher and staff appreciation program at Riverton Parke Jr.-Sr. High School.  At the start of each month, they send out a form to the entire student body to vote on which staff members should be named the Teacher and Staff Member of the Month.  The winners receive an award and a small gift bag that includes their favorite snacks.

The winner for the February Teacher of the Month was Mr. Lucas Mackey.  Mr. Mackey is a high school math teacher who teaches Algebra I and Algebra II. He has been at RP for two years and has been teaching for a total of ten years.   He really enjoys the math material that he teaches and  loves connecting with his students.   He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching football in his spare time.

The winner for the February Staff Member of the Month was Mrs. Tricia Leitgabel.  Mrs. Leitgabel is a teaching assistant for the Special Education Department.  She has been at RP for eight years.  She really enjoys working with the students and helping out where needed.  In her spare time she enjoys reading and spending time with family.  

The winner for the March Teacher of the Month was Mrs. Katie Ferrari.  Mrs. Ferrari is a high school English teacher who teaches English 11 & 12 and dual credit English classes.  She has been at RP for twenty-five years. She truly loves her job and the fact that she never gets bored, always has someone to talk to, and enjoys the relationships built with her students.  In her spare time she enjoys going to her kids' activities, napping, reading, doing yoga, shopping, and spending time with her family.  

The winner for the March Staff Member of the Month was Mrs. Alexis Joyner-Kirby.  Mrs. Joyner-Kirby is the School Social Worker.  She has been at RP for three years and has been a social worker for seven years. She loves working with the kids, seeing their growth, watching them gain confidence, and meeting their goals that they set out to achieve.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, camping, boating, getting her nails done, and spending time with her family.
