Riverton Parke High School celebrated its annual Fall Homecoming last Friday and a win over North Vermillion, 16-6. Seniors Jacob Hopton and Ella Harper were named King and Queen at the halftime ceremonies.
\r\nKing Jacob Hopton is the son of Brian and Mandy Hopton. At Riverton, he has played both varsity basketball and football. He will be a 3 year letter winner in basketball. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and is the Senior class secretary. He also plans to be a 10 year 4-H member this year. In 4-H, he is a member of the Florida Beach Bums club. During the school day, Jacob works in the office and has done so for two years. Outside of school, Jacob attends Terre Haute First Baptist Church. In his spare time, he loves to hang out with his girlfriend, Ella. After high school, Jacob plans to attend Indiana State University and is undecided on what he will study. He wants to join the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, just like his brother, BJ. A fun fact about Jacob is that he has played football since he was 4 years old and has always worn the number 22.
\r\nQueen Ella Harper is the daughter of Mark and Jessica Harper. At Riverton Parke, she has been a varsity cheerleader for 4 years. She is a member of NHS, Student Council, Class President junior and senior year, Class Secretary freshmen and sophomore year, and spell bowl. She has received Academic Excellence for 3 years, all As Honor Roll for 3 years, Silver Key Writing Award, UCA All-American Cheerleader, and Best Choreography Award for cheer. Outside of school, Ella volunteers at Reading Bootcamp and plans to attend Indiana State University for Elementary Education.
\r\nHalftime also included a class float display that was enjoyed by all. Homecoming week, with a theme of “Stranger Things,” concluded with the senior class earning the most spirit points for the class wall, dress up days, and pep session games.
