RP Receives PCCF Grant for Wrestling Equipment

Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School’s Athletic Department recently received a grant from the Parke County Community Foundation to help purchase new wrestling mats. The Southwest Parke Community School Corp. school board approved the creation of a new wrestling program in December 2022 and it was launched at the junior high level in January 2023. The wrestling program has had a great response and currently has 28 students, both boys and girls, participating. The positive reception and participation in the new athletic program is notable and hopes are high that this success will continue with the opportunity for high school students to participate in the 2023-2024 school year.

The creation of the wrestling program has brought a new opportunity to students who want to participate in the athletic program at Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School. Athletic Director, Charlie Martin, commented, “The start of the wrestling program here at Riverton Parke could not have been better. In order to ensure that we continue to build on this, the funding for the new wrestling mats is the last step in the process. With this in place, we look forward to a successful program in future years.”
